We arrived to Vajdahunyad Castle around 6 pm on Saturday afternoon. We carried a big suitcase and a big amount of fleece. The suitcase contained the semi finished quilts from what the chicks, owls, strawberries and hearts were made later. Ad also contained the sample pieces and tools we needed. As soon as I managed to put all materials to the table we received for this night, the first stitchers has arrived.
In the beginning it was not easy to stitch for the visitors, but later there were time when there were no room around our table even for myself. Before midnight we have a lot of children stitching but after midnight there were adults who came to our table. I added in a lot of needles and I could mostly give advices to someone that the next people needs advises was standing next to the first one. This was the reason that I told mostly only the next step saying came back after this step. In the meantime my husband was also giving instructions. Someone after midnight asked him how he know this so well while he just mentioned he has never saw any of these he only share the instructions. But he did it very wll.
There were many interesting chicks, some of the became very unique. But there were sequined hears made and a mouse from the materials of owls.
There were visitors who have stitched all the quilt figures but there were ones who stitched more than one from one figure type. It was very good to see stitching fathers and boyfriends next to their kids or girlfriends enthusiastically.
And some words about statistics:
- 10 big hearts
- 33 small hearts
- 87 owls
- 136 chicks and
- 131 strawberries were made.
This is 397 figures stitched by you all together.
I would like to say thank you for the place and opportunity for the Agricultural Museum and its colleagues. I hope to see you again next year.
